Burnham/Anthony
Mathematics & Science Academy is a magnet
cluster school made up of two separate buildings. The school's focus is
to provide high-quality instruction through rigorous implementation of Balanced
Literary Instruction and the Chicago Math and Science Initiative. This year we
are pleased to announce that we have made annual yearly progress for the past
6 years and that our ISAT scores have increased from 38% to 84%.
At Burnham we continue to
nurture and maintain a professional collaborative learning community. As we strive to become a school of leaders,
we have adopted a shared leadership style and are working closely with the LSC,
parents, and staff to continuously enhance instruction and provide the highest
quality of education. Through our Community School, we provide academic and enrichment
programs to enhance and support the regular school day.
At Burnham/Anthony
we not only want our students to be academically knowledgeable, we also want
our students to acquire skills to manage emotions, develop care and concern for
others, make responsible decisions, establish positive relationships, handle
challenging situations effectively, and set clear goals. We expect to accomplish
this through our new Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)program, Second Step.
